Nina and Good News recorded live at Blackest Ever Black’s Berlin leaving party, at OHM club on Köpenicker Str., Friday 12 August 2016. 2xCS set housed in a double library case, edition of 75.
Nina (Plazonja) and Good News (Tobias Düffner) are stalwarts of the Golden Pudel family in Hamburg, and together they run the label V I S – which to date has brought out murder from SPR, Scheich in China and C.
Nina’s signature style – blown-out, post-techno industrial and deeply suspenseful, darkside concrète – will be familiar to many of you already, but finds its fullest expression in this set, which opened the night. Good News, meanwhile, gives up 90 minutes (excerpted from a longer whole) of bleakest b-boy selections: downtempo gangsta tekno, blunted breakbeats and no let-up of the paranoid, telescoping ambience established by Nina. It’s impossible to imagine a more apposite sound to see out the last uneasy days of the year and also suggest possible futures…not all of them apocalyptic.
This is the first release on Id Mud, a new mixtape series from Blackest Ever Black. Krokodilo Tapes must be dead.
